Different depths of edges for both Radius of Hollow (RoH) and Flat Bottom V (FBV).
Things to keep in mind when selecting your cut:
The sharper the cut, the further you will dig into the ice. The easier turns and using your edges are, glide is reduced. The less the cut, the less deep you will dig in and get more glide. The more glide means more speed. The downfall is that your edges aren't as deep and edgework might be slightly different.
For lighter the person, a sharper cut might work better to help their edges dig in more. The opposite is true bigger skater.

Radius of Hollow
The Radius of Hollow ( RoH) is the depth of the cut in the bottom of the skate blade in hockey or figure skates that is made by the skate sharpener. The basic principle of RoH is the flatter the surface of the blade, the more glide and the deeper the cut into the blade, the more bite the skate blade will have on ice.
Blade Profile
The profile (or rocker) of a hockey or figure skate blade refers to how much of the skate blade touches the ice. A smaller radius (measured in feet) is better for agility and maneuverability, and a larger radius is better for speed.
Flat Bottom V®
How the Radius of Hollow transforms into the Flat Bottom V®
- Take the depth of the hollow and make it as close to the ice as possible
- Create solid, straight, travel points from the edge of the blade to the bottom of the shape
- Determine the perfect combination of width and depth for the skater’s desired bite
